The volume of education continues to increase, yet so do pollution, exhaustion of resources, and the dangers of ecological catastrophe. If still more education is to save us, it would have to be education of a different kind: an education that takes us into the depth of things.

Spring College provides programmes that invite you into the depth of things, into learning with your mind, your soul, and your senses. We work with inspiring teachers and change-makers from around the world, who deliver strong content and ask challenging questions. We explore issues through dialogue, and there is plenty of time for thoughts and ideas to wander in breaks, walks and work groups.

All Spring College courses will be hosted in some of the most beautiful areas in the Netherlands. We will be spending as much time as possible outside the four walls, in the natural classroom where trees, the soil and the elements are the greatest teachers.

Yearly we organize walk & talk events and courses. There are three variances:

  • Spring College directed walks with invited guest speakers (annually 4-5)
  • walking events in co-creation with others (annually around 4-5) example of previous years: with Ministry of Economic Affairs and WWF at Springtij in Terschelling (Sep, 2014)
  • walking events on request (any amount) previous examples: Province of Gelderland ‘regional trade mission’ (Dec, 2014); a team of lawyers (Jan, 2015)

We also provide a walking pedagogy and curriculum at schools on request, examples: at Rotterdam School of Management a trimester master elective ‘Companies in Ecologies’ (since 2006, ongoing); Nyenrode Business School, part of course on Sustainability (Sep 2013; Sep & Nov 2014);  Schumacher College, part of course on Green Entrepreneurship (Nov, 2013); Pabo Free School in Leiden with 200 students (Sep, 2014).

These walks can either be open to anyone or focused for a specific participant group.
